Are You Going to Heaven?
Heaven
If I were to ask you if you wanted to go to heaven when you died, more than likely you would respond with the vast majority of people by answering “Yes.” But if I were to ask you by what means will you get there, you may have some difficulty giving an absolute answer. Religion, good works, morality, and church membership are much like the old cars in this picture– they just do not work; and they can never take us where we want to go.
THE TRUTH IS WE ALL NEED A LIFT
We have all sinned and come short of the glory of God. There is no one perfect, this includes you and I. Can you think of a time when you have sinned? Have you ever had an impure thought or spoke an unkind word? Have you ever used God’s name inappropriately? Have you ever coveted something of your neighbors? Although the world thinks these are small, insignificant practices, God says it is sin; and therefore we are sinners. The wages of sin result in eternal separation from God in hell.
THERE IS ONLY ONE WHO CAN GIVE YOU A LIFT
The only way you and I can get to heaven is by knowing Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Jesus Himself said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.” (John 14:6). Religion, morals, good deeds, or church membership will never take you to the place of heaven; you must come to Christ and ask Him to forgive you of your sins.
YOU CAN GET A LIFT TODAY
Not only can God save you from your sins, He wants to save you from your sins. The Bible says, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). The truth is, God wants to save you more than you want to be saved. He allowed His Son to die on the cross in your place so that you could be lifted from your sins.
HE CAN TAKE YOU WHERE YOU NEED TO GO
Again I ask, “Do you want to go to heaven when you die? Then by what means will you get there?” Trusting Christ as your Lord and Savior is the only entrance in the great city of Heaven. He can lift you out of the horrible pit of sin and establish your goings. When He gives you a Lift, He really gives you a Life.
IF YOU WANT A LIFT TO HEAVEN:
1. Realize you are a Sinner- and death is the penalty of sins.
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23
2. Realize that Jesus has paid the price for your sins by dying on the cross.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” Romans 5:8
3. Repent of your sins and ask the Lord to forgive you
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).
4. Ask Jesus to be your Savior and believe on His name
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved…For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:9,13)
